Fairy Rose Princess by Angelic Pretty

This winter Angelic Pretty had cheered us with a variety of great prints, and one of them really called my name: the gorgeus Fairy Rose Princess. The series come in three cuts (JSK, Special Set JSK, Princess OP) as well as a veil headdress and the stockings.

Princess OP
Personally I would say that even though I am a JSK gal, this OP really caught my eye! The way the cut is complimenting the print and feeling of the dress is spectacular, and I would definitely see myself wearing the gown (I would even go this far to call the OP this way) to a super fancy tea party!

The dress reminds me a lot of the proper Victorian style dresses based on the bodice cut - but mixed with a serious Rococo vibe going on in the print. High neckline, lacy yoke and fitted yet modest cut really do scream ‘Back to Victorian era’ to me.
The lace used to decorate the yoke seems to be very high quality though seems like it is not a cotton one, and is nicely contrasting the busy print of the dress. The neckline is very pretty and will not shorten the neck, however I would love to see this dress with a square neckline instead to bring us later in the days to Rococo era to match the print even more.
Personally I find that the bows are a bit too much for the bodice, however I must admit that without them the skirt would be too heavy looking compared to the top.
The sleeves of the dress are exactly the part that makes me want to get the OP! Amount of lace that will surround the arm, looks OTT frilly, but it ensures that the entire look is not too covered and provides more maturity and feminine touch to it.
The skirt is very poofy and is finished with two layers of lace, second layer made of similar material as the peplum surrounding the waist. This actually concerns me a bit as the lace looks quite long and not as gathered as in earlier AP pieces which gives not as finished appearance in my view.
The OP does not have any shirring, and although the zipper is smartly hidden and the print is matching perfectly, it might be a bit of a concern to fit the dress perfectly.

Next comes the JSK

The JSK almost mimics the OP in the OTT tea party look with lots of lace and details, bringing the dress into the #glamorous #extra #outfit category.
The front part of the dress is decorated with a significant amount of lace and bows. Even though on the photos this combination looks great, I am a bit concerned if it wouldn't be too much in reality. The peplum is present again, ensuring that the waist is emphasized and that the contrast between poofy skirt and the delicate bodice is even more prominant. The bows on the bodice are not detachable as well, which makes the JSK not as customizable in my thoughts. The straps are looking quite thin, however it is getting balanced out with a very pretty gathered lace, and overall bodice is lookng very pretty.
The skirt is as poofy as the OP’s, but is also decorated with the same style velveteen bows, which is merged to the print surprizingly well and introduces even more oumph to the look.
And here comes the print:

The series come in Ivory, Pink, Blue and Red while the special set introuce the Navy version to the family as well. I would say that Ivory is the most versatile and possibly the one that I would buy in the future, however for some unknown reasons I am really attracted to the Red one! Even though combination of pink, red and wine in one single dress might sound a bit crazy, I thnk that the shades alltogether give a perfect impression of a fresh morning in a rose garden with each and every flower blooming. The print is extremely detailed as well as busy and definitely itself was inspired by Rococo era! I could easily imagine Marie Antoinette inspired coords with a main piece from these series. Shinier satin fabric, enhanced with velveteen accent indeed provides luxurious effect and will look extremely pretty both in OTT swett and OTT classic outfits in my opinion. This print also contains blue and green, so there are quite a lot of ways to coordinate the dress nicely.

Would I purchase anything from the series? Unfortuntely no, as my wardrobe will not be able to accomodate such a gorgeous piece and it will simply require me to build an entire collection of accessories to compliment the piece! But if I had more extensive collection, I would definitely purchase the Ivory JSK (specificaly in the Special set cut!). Let’s see if the series would fall into the discount times during the winter sales!
What are you thinking about the series?
